The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County (BGCPC) is a not-for-profit youth development organization that is part of the national network of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. BGCPC was founded in 1971 and has 13 club locations throughout the county that provide a safe, nurturing and fun after-school environment for children ages 6-18. Through BGCPC, the foundation helps support educational programs, health and life skills training and leadership development for more than 8,000 local children.

211 Helpline Logo

211 HelpLine is a non-profit organization, servicing Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. 211 is a confidential, non-judgmental crisis hotline and community helpline available 24/7 to individuals who find themselves in a situation without knowing whom to contact in order to obtain the information, referrals or answers to the problems they are facing. 211 is essentially the “gateway” to all other health, human service, and governmental organizations in the community and can be accessed by simply dialing 2-1-1.

The Children’s Home Society of Florida is dedicated to reshaping the future for children through reimagining foster care. Founded in 1902, CHS is the oldest and largest statewide organization focused on helping children and families – serving over 50,000 throughout the state of Florida every year. The organization looks to address the various causes that lead to children entering foster care, including developing and implementing real-world solutions that positively impact communities.

Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach Logo

Founded in 1980, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is dedicated to protecting the architectural and cultural heritage of Palm Beach. The foundation accomplishes this through advocacy, education, and resource-sharing initiatives, as well as cultural events. Since its founding, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach has raised millions of dollars, helped designate over 300 historic landmarks, educated children about Palm Beach’s legacy, and provided numerous valuable resources to the surrounding community.

The Community Coalition is a collaboration of five non-profit organizations in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Coalition and its member organizations fundraise together and share resources in an effort to reduce expenses and allow more donor money to go directly to their programs that serve the community. Founded in 1991, the Community Coalition has distributed over $6.7 million to a collaboration of local organizations that respond to community needs and celebrate individuals, families and social institutions.

The Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute works to increase the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in public office through training and professional development programs. Support from the Donald A. Burns Foundation has allowed the Victory Institute to provide LGBTQ+ leaders with intensive Candidate & Campaign Training intended to build a pipeline of LGBTQ+ elected officials. The foundation helps support the Victory Institute’s mission of building the next generation of diverse LGBTQ+ leaders in the United States.

Glades Academy Elementary Logo

Glades Academy Elementary School provides a rigorous instructional program for reading, writing, and math aligned with Florida Sunshine State Standards and Grade Level Expectations for all students. The school provides more intense programs for students who have been identified as academically challenged or “at risk”. Glades Academy works to provide a safe, nurturing school setting that will promote emotional and social growth, and develop students into active, productive citizens.

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization. The organization provides rescue and direct care to companion animals and wildlife, and oversees education and awareness campaigns to help people make kinder, more informed choices. The Humane Society also helps drive transformational change in the U.S. by working to improve corporate policies and legal protections related to the treatment of animals.

Lambda Legal works for the full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and individuals living with HIV. The organization effects change through impact litigation, selecting cases that will have the greatest impact in protecting and advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ people and those with HIV. Lambda Legal also leads public education campaigns and advocates for public policies at all levels of government to improve the lives of LGBTQ+ people and people affected by HIV.

Lipstick Angels provides personalized beauty and skin care services to restore and strengthen the dignity, self-esteem, and hope of seriously ill cancer patients. Through the organization, professional makeup artists and estheticians provide complimentary services at the patient’s bedside or while they are receiving chemotherapy. Lipstick Angels offers services in hospitals in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York, and works to foster kindness, empathy, and support to nourish the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.

Make A Wish Southern Florida Logo

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. The chapter granted its first wish in 1983, and has since granted more than 10,000 wishes for children with critical illnesses. The organization partners with local individuals, businesses and organizations like the Donald A. Burns Foundation to make a difference and help grant a wish for a child every 14 hours.

Nantucket High School Logo

The Donald A. Burns Foundation helped support a three-year Massachusetts Math/Science Initiative (MMSI) grant awarded to Nantucket High School. The grant, awarded by Mass Insight Education & Research, allowed the school to expand their math and science Advanced Placement course offering, giving more than fifty additional students access to these college-level courses. The grant also expanded underserved and underrepresented students’ access to Advanced Placement courses and provided teacher professional development.

Nantucket Cottage Hospital (NCH) is a non-profit hospital that provides health and wellness services to the island of Nantucket. NCH has provided care for more than 100 years, and works to meet the healthcare needs of Nantucket’s increasingly diverse and growing community. The hospital offers services including primary care and specialized medicine and surgery. Through a partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital, NCH offers access to world-class medical resources within the familiarity of a small community hospital.

Palm Beach Police Foundation Logo

The Palm Beach Police Foundation supports the Town of Palm Beach Police Department and its employees through the disbursement of grants for education, officer training, community programs and Emergency Financial Assistance for officers and their families. The Donald A. Burns Foundation has supported the Foundation’s scholarship program for qualified children of Palm Beach Police Department employees. The program increases access to college education and helps attract the best caliber of future police employees.

Sustainable Nantucket Logo

Sustainable Nantucket is an organization dedicated to growing a healthy island community by building a more locally-based and self-reliant food system and a stronger local economy. Sustainable Nantucket’s Community Farm Institute (CFI) farm incubator program helps community members launch small farm businesses. Support from the Donald A. Burns Foundation has helped fund the CFI Adopt-an-Apprentice program, covering the cost of hiring, training and overseeing a farm apprentice for CFI beginning farmers.

The Nantucket Atheneum provides public library services to the year-round and seasonal residents of the island of Nantucket. The Atheneum also serves as a cultural center for the Nantucket community by maintaining special collections and offering educational programming including lectures, book discussions, English Language Learning and more. Each year, the Atheneum relies on support from individuals and foundations like the Donald A. Burns Foundation to raise at least 60% of its budget.

The organization works to ensure access to quality education, financial stability, medical care, health services and other basic needs for all Palm Beach residents. Founded in 1945, the Town of Palm Beach United Way works to address the needs of struggling individuals, families and children, and to help all community members reach their full potential.
